Carol Denniston, Ph.D., R.Psych.
Dr. Carol Denniston is a Registered Psychologist and Fellow at the DBT Centre of Vancouver. In addition, she is a member of a multi-disciplinary treatment team on the Adolescent Psychiatry Unit at Surrey Memorial Hospital. Dr. Denniston received her doctorate in clinical psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology-San Diego (APA accredited). She has an extensive clinical background assessing and treating adolescents and adults with a wide range of psychological difficulties including, depression, anxiety, PTSD, psychosis, disordered eating, substance abuse, self-harm and chronic suicidality. Dr. Denniston has worked as Program Manager for Mental Health Services and Clinical Supervisor at the Whitman-Walker Clinic of Northern Virginia (a non-profit organization serving individuals with HIV/AIDS), as a private practitioner and partner at the Washington Psychological Center, P.C. in Washington, DC, and as an independent contractor at the Neuropsychiatric Wellness Center in Northern Virginia. In addition, she has worked as a clinical research psychologist at Johns Hopkins University, School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Sciences, and taught graduate level courses in clinical practice and research methodology at the American School of Professional Psychology. With over 15 years of clinical experience, Dr. Denniston joined the DBT Centre in August 2011 to further expand her clinical skills by receiving intensive training and supervision in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy.
